Today was a really fun day in the studio, because…well, because ice cream! How could I not have a blast filling a teeny-tiny ice cream case? Seeing the finished case next to the pastry one, which is also completely filled with miniature sweets now, gave me a huge feeling of momentum on this project–the room box is really starting to look like a miniature bakery. (I’ll be taking pics of the room box itself soon. It’s just hard to do without a bit of fuss, what with my camera being much too big to fit inside!)

In the upcoming book, I’ll outline how to make the ice cream, down to the little scooped-out areas to the melty portions, and I’ll also show you how to make your own flavor creations with a variety of mix ins. And speaking of the book, closer to the release date I’ll be taking pre-orders for the miniature ice cream cases–empty ones, of course, so you can fill them with your own yummy flavors! If you want a case, make sure to hop on my mailing list to get an email when the pre-orders open.

So, what’s next with the miniature bakery? Well, I still need to add little signs next to the desserts in the pastry case, and I want to make some sort of foam divider between the ice cream trays, because they look a bit like they’re floating at sea. (Once the room box is nearly finished, I’ll likely add signs to the front of the ice cream case, advertising “this week’s flavor” and whatnot, but I’m holding off until I see how the bakery comes together.)

Next week, I’ll be working on the cake case, and I’m super excited. I’ve chosen a variety of brand new cakes, ones that I haven’t outlined in any of my previous tutorial books, and I can’t wait to give you a photo tour once they’re finished!  To get a sneak peek, check out my Pinterest boards; I’m choosing all of the cakes from pins I’ve fallen in love with.
