The miniature bakery and ice cream parlor room box is getting close to being finished! My miniature supply order came in with a glass-topped cafe table and chairs, rolling pins and cookie sheets, glass candy jars and more goodies. Here’s a little photo tour of what I’ve completed since my last post.

Don’t forget: If you want to receive an email (and a discount) on the upcoming book detailing how to make this miniature bakery, be sure to sign up for my mailing list.

First off, here’s what you’d see as you were walking up to the entrance side of the bakery: a little seating area where you can enjoy your ice cream and baked goods al fresco. (There are still details missing, such as signs and an awning.)

On the table, there’s a pitcher filled with flowers, a napkin dispenser, a cotton candy ice cream sundae and a brownie ice cream sundae, and a little menu with the day’s specials and an ad about hosting parties at the bakery.

I still need to make the window cling with the name of the bakery for the window below, but here’s the little open sign:

Moving to the front of the bakery, here’s a view of the sidewalk that I completed yesterday. I have a feeling that I’ll be adding more details before the room box is entirely done, but it looks pretty cute so far.

The window displays still need a fair amount of work, but for now, here’s a peek at the sign advertising afternoon tea, “daily at 1 p.m.” I would love to come here for tea, wouldn’t you?

Moving inside the bakery, let’s take a look at some of the cases, now with tiny signs for each of the sweets.

For the prep area in the back of the bakery, the dish dryer rack arrived. Now I just need to make a bottle of soap and add some cake and frosting to dirty the baking pan in the sink.

And speaking of cleaning, I bought a little bucket of cleaning supplies and affixed a tiny, golden hook to the wall for storage.

Last but not least is the checkout area. I ordered a kitchen scale for measuring out candies, and I’ve changed it from its original red color to a robin’s egg blue. The tray for measuring the candies is missing in the picture below, because I’m in the process of painting it.

It just occurred to me that I’ve never mentioned the name of the bakery! Marshmallow Moon, a name that came to me while I was falling asleep–I liked the sound of it so much that it stuck.

In the corner by the door, there’s a gum ball machine and a trash can, and I want to create a little community bulletin board to go on the wall above with flyers for free puppies, yoga classes and the like.

I’ll be working on more finishing details today, so stay tuned for more pics here on the blog. You can also follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Google+ to get cute photo updates. 🙂
